The University social responsibility is a policy of continuous improvement of the university towards the effective fulfillment of its social mission; however, the problem of tuberculosis has been slightly met in terms of the goals proposed in the End to Tuberculosis Strategy of the World Health Organization. The objective of this research was to diagnose the current state of university social responsibility of the Nursing Career of the University of Guayaquil regarding the problem of Tuberculosis, using the qualitative approach and with the theory as a method of analysis, so six teachers of the career were interviewed. Three categories were obtained: Social responsibility as a university and professional duty for the solution of health problems; the problem of tuberculosis as the sole responsibility of government agencies and not the University; and the Formation of university social responsibility because of the integration of the University and Society. It is concluded that if there is no inter-institutional integration of University-society and health-governing entity, the institution of higher education could not address the problem of tuberculosis nor would the objective of professional training in this area be fulfilled.
