Code of Ethics of Un Espacio para la Ciencia
Authors wishing to contribute to Un Espacio para la Ciencia must adhere to the highest ethical standards. Here is our code of ethics:
- Integrity and Originality of Authorship: Authors must ensure that their contribution is original work and that they have properly attributed all sources and citations. This means that the manuscript has not been previously published in its entirety or in part, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- Accuracy of Data and Claims: Authors must ensure the accuracy of the presented data and refrain from manipulating or misrepresenting information. Claims presented as facts should be the result of rigorous and verifiable research.
- Significant Contribution and Public Responsibility: Authors must have made a substantial contribution to the design, conduct, and writing of the research and be willing to take public responsibility for their work. They should be available to address any questions related to the integrity of the content.
- Citing Sources and Acknowledging Contributions: Properly citing all sources that have contributed to the work is essential. This includes publications, data, and significant contributions from colleagues that have influenced the development of the manuscript.
- Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Authors must be transparent about any financial, personal, or other relationships that may influence their research. This includes funding sources, institutional affiliations, or personal relationships that could create conflicts of interest.
- Adherence to Journal Guidelines: Authors must read and adhere to the Guidelines for Authors of Un Espacio para la Ciencia, ensuring compliance with formatting and submission requirements.
- Cooperation in Peer Review: Authors must actively participate in the peer review process, address and respond to reviewers' comments and suggestions, and make necessary revisions.
- Respect for Copyright: Authors must respect copyright laws and obtain permissions for the reproduction of copyrighted materials.
- Protection of Privacy and Informed Consent: If the research involves human subjects or personal data, authors must ensure the protection of privacy and obtain informed consent from participants.
- Responsibility to Report Errors or Retractions: Authors have the responsibility to promptly inform the journal if they discover a significant error in their published work and cooperate in the correction or retraction of the article.
- Replies or Comments: The journal accepts the submission of comments or replies to published articles as part of its commitment to transparency and academic debate. Such contributions will be evaluated by the Editorial Committee.
- Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence: Un Espacio para la Ciencia allows the responsible use of generative AI tools for auxiliary editorial purposes (such as language editing, structuring, or translation), provided that such use is explicitly disclosed in the manuscript. Further details are available in the Policy on the Use of AI.
- Complaints or Appeals: Complaints or appeals regarding the editorial process must be sent to ueplc@manglareditores.com and will be addressed by the Editorial Committee or, if necessary, by an independent ad hoc committee.
Authors hold Un Espacio para la Ciencia, Manglar Editores, its director, editor, Editorial Board, and members of the Permanent Committee of Academic Reviewers harmless from any controversy that may arise from the publication of the manuscript.
Authors are encouraged to retain their research data for at least five years and, when appropriate, to make them available through repositories or as supplementary material, promoting reproducibility and scientific openness.
Furthermore, Un Espacio para la Ciencia adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in matters not explicitly covered by this code of ethics and is committed to following best practices in academic and scientific publishing.
